With their Soul/Funk/World and British Glitter Goth Punk influences in mind,Soma and Ted Axe (exThe Action) created Khroma Key.
These two multi talented performers joined forces in Ottawa,Canada and moved to Toronto in 1980. Both had an intriguing image__Soma with her beauty and innate beyond super model looks and Ted Axe with his goth glam mystique.
''We wanted to do something that incorporated all of our diverse influences,''says Ted Axe, ''Bauhaus,James,Brown,David Bowie and Japan,Grace Jones,Nina Hagen,MGM musicals,Judy Garland,Cabaret and Rocky Horror Picture Show just to name few.''
These songs are sophisticated yet raw,structured but wild and they hit the universal jugular dead on!
Dance grooves merge with rock riffs and ethnic sounds mix with goth attitude...Eclectic indeed!One could even say that Khroma Key defy genre the same way Soma and Ted defy catagorrization.
Starting on the legendary Queen street Strip,Khroma-Key played the punk clubs like The El lMocambo and gained a loyal following.They were courted by CBS Records and eventually opened for the likes of Nina Hagen and Sioux and the Banshees.
Escaping from the would-be managerial clutches of a unscrupulous club owner, the duo moved to Montreal in 1984 and Khroma-Key submerged until now!
Today after living in Los Angeles and Seattle, Soma and Ted Axe are back in Toronto,Canada and are recording new songs and reactivating renewed interest in Khroma-Key.
